According to reports, a group of youths gathered at Banaadir Garden allegedly provoked and molested a girl in public. The incident has sparked outrage across the community and on social media, intensifying calls for stronger protection measures for women and girls in public spaces.

In response, dozens of young women took to the streets to condemn the abuse and demand accountability and immediate action from authorities. Protesters carried messages calling for justice, safety, and respect for women’s rights.

Hibo Ali, one of the demonstrators, expressed concern over the growing insecurity faced by women and girls.

“We live in constant fear,” she said. “We cannot walk freely, and we cannot feel safe even in public places. This must stop.”

Activists participating in the protest emphasized that such incidents reflect deeper societal challenges, including a lack of accountability and the normalization of harassment. They called on community leaders, law enforcement agencies, and government institutions to take urgent action to prevent further violence and protect vulnerable members of society.

“This is not just one incident—it is a warning sign,” said youth activist Fahma Abdi. “We need justice for the victim and real consequences for those responsible.”

The demonstrators urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that all those involved are held accountable. They also called for increased public awareness campaigns, stronger legal protections, and safer public environments for women and girls.
